About the Center

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (the “Center”) promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York so that middle- and working-class families are able to build strong, thriving communities. Established by public and private partners, the Center meets the diverse needs of homeowners throughout New York State by offering free, high-quality housing services. The Center’s current projects support our policy goals and help to keep homeownership affordable by responding to the ongoing effects of the foreclosure crisis, the rising cost of homeownership, predatory scams, rising sea levels, and more extreme weather.

 

Position Summary

The Project Manager will work closely with the Center’s web development team to maintain and develop online tools for working- and moderate-income homeowners and prospective homebuyers, including a digital Down Payment Assistance Navigator, resources for Mom & Pop landlords, and an equitable mortgage underwriting system. Reporting to the Digital Project Manager, this staff person will work across teams to manage and deliver high-quality digital experiences for our homeowners. This position is grant-funded and any continuation of employment is subject to extension of funding.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Construct and manage the day-to-day dev schedule and backlog for digital products
  • Support development team through the use of Agile methods
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to gather and document project requirements
  • Author and maintain detailed project plans, project briefs, and cost estimates with defined parameters and input from team members as needed
  • Facilitate collaboration and effective workflow between project team members
  • Run burn reports and track budgets on weekly basis at the program level
  • Ensure that all deliverables are complete, incorporate all requirements, meet predefined specifications and are error-free
  • Track work progress, anticipate delays, plan corrective actions to get project back on schedule (collaborating with team members for agreement and alignment) and adjust project plans as necessary, throughout project lifecycle
  • Manage cross-functional task completion per schedules/project plans via the most effective communication channels for team members
  • Deliver digital projects of the highest quality on-time and on-budget

Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree or at least two years as a project manager or lead required
  • Passionate and fluent in current and emerging technologies
  • Deeply interested in developing great and usable digital products
  • Familiar with Photoshop and other graphic design tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of various interactive mediums including websites, iOS/Android mobile apps, social media platforms, etc
  • Ability to organize and manage Agile process with industry standard tools (eg. JIRA, Slack, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to interpret data and trends using Google Analytics and other tools, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans to resolve issues
  • Comfort managing concurrent projects in a fast-based, results-driven environment
  • Equal enthusiasm for high-level strategic planning and tactical daily execution
  • Understanding of and interest in design thinking and Lean processes
  • Passion and commitment to a mission oriented organization required; affinity for homeownership and housing is preferred

 

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to speak English clearly and hear the spoken word well;
  • Regularly required to physically operate routine office equipment such as telephones, computers, etc.;
  • Regularly required to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens.

 

Work Environment:

  • Noise level is consistent with levels usually present in an office environment.
  • Hazards present are consistent with those common to an office environment.
