About the Center
The Center for NYC Neighborhoods (“the Center”) promotes and protects affordable homeownership in New York so that middle- and working-class families are able to build strong, thriving communities. Established by public and private partners, the Center meets the diverse needs of homeowners throughout New York State by offering free, high-quality housing services. The Center’s current projects support our policy goals and help to keep homeownership affordable by responding to the ongoing effects of the foreclosure crisis, the rising cost of homeownership, predatory scams, rising sea levels, and more extreme weather.
The Finance Intern will report to the Program Manager, Finance and will receive an in depth introduction to the Center's financial operations as well as its programmatic, fundraising, and policy and communications functions.
Assist in monitoring and analyzing the Center’s Fiscal 2017 operating budget
Assist with grant management duties such as compiling and organizing donor files for the Finance department
Document, review, edit, and report on finance related case work in Salesforce and Asana databases
Assist the Accounts Payable department with reviewing payment transactions and ensuring that all payment request come with the appropriate documentation.
Provide support to Finance team members, such as calendar management, file management, data entry, general office tasks (scanning, faxing, filing), and organizing and preparing materials for meetings and events such as conferences, panels, etc;
Other Ad-Hoc analytical finance related projects as assigned.
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Non Profit Management or a similar field;
Skills & Experience Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;
Fluency with Microsoft Office suite, especially excel;
Database knowledge, especially Salesforce, is desired
Meets rigorous deadlines and handles challenging tasks with efficiency and attention to detail;
Passionate about promoting affordable homeownership
Internships at the Center are paid.
